The Meaning and History of Pearls

The Meaning and History of Pearls

One of my current favorite things to work with is none other than the simple, elegant freshwater pearl. Why? A lot of reasons...

They are exceedingly useful - want a look that has a elevated feel but isn't sparkly? Pop on a pair of pearl huggie hoops

Need the perfect necklace to accent an all-black ensemble (looking at you, music friends!)? Add a pearl necklace

They are charming, luminous, and come in a variety of shapes and styles. They are said to enhance love, luck, health, protection, and even honesty. Traditionally, pearls have symbolized purity, though that is a meaning that more recent generations are not promoting.

I find great joy creating jewelry with freshwater pearls, and I hope that translates to you when you see and wear your Jasper & Elm pearls!
